Rose, a 66-year-old Florida resident, called Medicare Rights because she was provided a power wheelchair that she was unable to use. She needed repairs on the wheelchair she owned, so her supplier provided a replacement, but it was much too big for her and difficult to maneuver. Rose told her counselor at Medicare Rights that the replacement chair was preventing her from doing everyday activities at home and spending time with her neighbors. Rose’s counselor advocated on her behalf to the equipment supplier and helped her secure a suitable replacement chair, which allowed Rose to resume her everyday life again.
