As an 80-year-old retired flamenco instructor, Barrie was used to leading an active lifestyle. That changed when he developed a condition which affected his inner ears—he found himself no longer able to dance or to work. Then, he lost his employer health coverage.
Barrie called the Medicare Rights Center to learn about his Medicare coverage and affordability options. One of Medicare Rights’ counselors worked with him to help him enroll in programs that pay a portion of his premiums and deductibles, as well as lower his out-of-pocket costs for prescription medications.
