Like other Medicare enrollees, people who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid can choose to receive their Part A and Part B benefits through Original Medicare or from a private Medicare Advantage plan. Some who select Medicare Advantage may have access to Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs), which are exclusively available to people enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid. In this fact sheet, we examine D-SNPs and their potential to improve care for dually eligible individuals.
